Is there a better underlayment for vinyl
My floor installer says Luan is no longer acceptable as a floor underlayment for vinyl flooring. Apparently manufacturers are refusing to warrant their product over Luan due to poor Luan installation methods. AS such, because the manufacturer no longer will warrant it, he won’t. He described some kind of far better product, a composite like product that is approved for vinyl underlayment, and said it costs a bit more, too. Anyone know what he’s talking about?

I don't know of a composite, but around here we use a product called plytech. It usually comes in 4x5 sheets and is made out of a birch plywood that is real dense. I Like the smaller sheets as it is a lot easier to work with smaller sheets when you are doing areas that are real cut up.
