Got a problem, need to know if anyone can help.
I have a masonary fireplace that is torn down to the firebox. Firebox is intact as is the interior decorative brick. I really do not want to rebuild it as a masonary unit, but want to retain and not mess up the face brick/mantle/etc on the inside. Are there any inserts that can slip in and utilize a class B venting system? I only want the unit for gas logs and their appearance, heat is not important. I might be getting overly optomistic here, but want to avaoid the costs of rebuilding as a masonary unit and then installing an insert/gas logs. Thanks in advance.

Stan,
Don't know your jurisdiction but more than not, there shouldn't be any problem. Contact your local gas company rep, they would know the local codes and be able to direct you to a unit that would fill the bill.
As an alternative, Dimplex makes the best electric fireplaces that are hard to tell from gas. Cheaper to buy, easier to install and needs no venting.
