I recently saw an interesting open fireplace design (attached), and it got me thinking if this would work on an upcoming project where it could fit quite well.
Assuming it has a tight fitting damper will account for having no gasket sealing doors, but are there other considerations that are missing? Thanks in advance!

I think its pretty cool. But with the regulations the federal government has put in place, I think the only place you could put it would be outside on a patio. With a blower installed in the chimney to keep the smoke going up and away from you and your guests. And here in SoCal you would only be able to use it on days when smog levels are very low.
In addition to a tight-fitting damper, ensure proper ventilation and adequate clearance around the fireplace to prevent heat damage to surrounding materials. Also, consider local building codes and regulations regarding fireplace installations for safety and compliance.
