My house was built on a concrete slab, but on a hill. Can you do this? I can’t find any other pictures of a concrete slab on a hill.
I started wondering when I was looking into building a deck. All of the concrete slab homes have patios (since the ground is flat), and the deck usually ties into the block foundation. How would we tie a deck into this slab?

your slab has footings around the perimeter that are at least 12' below grade. The bottom of these should be at least 5' horizontal to daylight. Option 1. Attach a ledger to the slab and footing and run joist out from that. Be sure to use treated wood rated for ground. contact. Option 2. Pour a footing several feet out from the slab. Pour a mini slab back to the house. Frame your deck out from the new footing and run the decking over the framing and back on the mini slab to the house. Option 3. Same as option 2 but either make the mini slab level with the deck or use pavers to create a walkway next to the house.
There's nothing wrong with the house on the slab as long as the soil is properly compacted. What you don't want to do is dig to deeply next to the slab and undermine the lateral soil support for the house.
