Yowza, That's some house! Real? Details?
PJ
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
That has to be a fake!
No it's not. It's real.
Even more amazing is that the two stone pillars supporting the thing are hollow and have elevators for transporting residents and guests to the boats and subs used to access the place.
The HO had to do the roofing himself, because his roofer bailed when the HO insisted he and his crew use a fall restraint system.
The DW was delivered by helicopter and swung, 4 sheets at a time, through a window opening.
There is a rear deck (not shown) with a Bacci ball court and a putting green.
The entire home is heated with driftwood.
Well, I'm not convinced yet but... Is it a natural rock formation or is the whole thing fabricated? If it's a natural rock formation how did they hollow out the legs?
The hollowing was done with high pressure water jets with an abrasive like they use for cutting marble in the big open mine pits.
I'm amazed that someone was able to photograph this place. It's location is not only a well-kept secret, but it's almost ALWAYS ingulfed in heavy fog.
BTW, Tyvek was originally installed on the house, but the owner got cold feet and made the siding crew remove it all and replace it with, can you believe it, #15 felt!

I vote fake.
If it's engulfed in heavy fog why build it there? Sounds like you might know where it is, can you give us a hint. Seems to have asian architectural influences - in fact it looks like something out of James Bond "the Man with the Golden Gun".
Kinda funny that you can sway people to even think it is real.American Tradition
Trim Carpentry Co.
No kidding, you can see the line across the "bottom."
Have you ever peed off a roof before? That onew would scare the pee out of me! Without saftey gear? no way!
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
I don't know anything about it. I would suspect it is was built in photo shop. Someone sent it to me along with these.
The "Step House" is actually a joint venture of VaTom and Cloudhidden.
It's location will be revealed at a time and date to be announced whenever a time and date can be agreed upon by the two entrepreneurs who, as yet, have been unable to come to terms on such a time.....
>The "Step House" is actually a joint venture of VaTom and Cloudhidden.Last time I share a secret with YOU.
Step House looks like the entrance at Machu Pichu with a few windows added (the openings are actually there IIRC, as is the thached roof) - Incan stone work is totally mind blowing!
Fake! All of em cept step house are fakes..........yeah I think step house could be at machu pichu.....When in doubt, get a bigger hammer!
Just because you were duped into thinking it was real (1st post), don't go thinkin we're all suckers ;-)
Of the 4 pics, tho, the cliff house does look like being in Nepal, and the step house - well, I recognise the thatched roof from my childhood (Dartmoor is an area with stone houses and thatched rooves. There is an ugly house there called the 1-day house: to have the house, free, that tenant was required to build it c/w roof, and have a fire burning in the grate by night-time. Consequently it was built on a June 21 with stones just heaped upon each other, no actual casements, rough trunks thrown up for rafters, and bracken for thatch. Once accepted by the lord of the manor, the tenant became the owner and could improve it - tho not much by the look of it. Probably because it was so ugly the landlord never allowed any other, that I know of.)
Sorry to jump onto your post, but sometimes things don't seem to be what they are, or are what they seem.ciao for niao
To those who know - this may be obvious. To those who don't - I hope I've helped.
Just checking the date....nope, not April 1. Hmmm.
Looks a little lopsided - I guess that's why the moveable counterweight is there. Or perhaps that's the pulley to lift the driftwood up. (Mind you, that doesn't look like the Oregon coast - more like China. I mean, driftwood in oregon makes sense - but where's the dunes??)
Now you're gonna tell us it was designed by Roger Dean (album artist for "Yes" - 'Topographical Dreams', 'Close to the Edge", et al)
