I love to spend a coupla days on an island somewhere out there in the kitchen sea’s …
here’s a coupla shots of the latest. Nice combo design of cab’s and table … little bit of framing in the middle.
The decision was made to raise the island up 3/4″ like the rest of the kitchen …
tall family … plus …. added a little more detail. The island raise added 20 pieces of trip and 5 pieces of 3/4 ply filler … my idea was to sand/finish the additional trim stock and use glass instead of granite … but no one else really seems to focus that much on my handiwork?

The legs are wood-doweled into the hardwood floor. Had a hard enough time getting them in place plumb on both sides ... had to pin nail them in place ... mark the floor ... then take it all apart and drill out the centers and drill the floor. 1/2" dowels are glued to the lags first ... then set into glue in the floor. Nice and solid now.

nice....Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->

Nice Jeff
Make sure you give us a final shot when the tops are on, if ya can!

pretty sure I'm to go back to do the tile backsplash ... so it'll be a nice chance to get back in when all's said and done.
there's a nice built up crown detail I'll start next week ...
plus ... some sorta stucco deal on the hood ... with the same crown over that. Gotta thin down some of the 3/4 cab stock to match the 1/2hardi board so the stucco/ trim detail lays nice ... that's my plan first thing Monday.
hood requires 10" duct work ... that's gonna be an interresting fit.
