I have a house with a wood foundation. We live in an area that has good drainage, sandy and gravelly soils that are well sloped away from the house, and wood foundations are common here. The house is approximately 35 years old and we have not had any other problems with our foundation until I found this.
I recently discovered a small patch of rot on my wood foundation while renovating the basement bathroom. It appears to be about 4 to 6 inches in diameter and just below ground surface. The rot is just on the plywood (no rot in the studs). Since the outside is actually in our carport, is there any way to repair the damage from the inside?

I'd want to know why that area is rotting. Where do you live? Is it possible that condensation from moisture in inside air collects there in the winter? Is there possibly some source of moisture on the outside? Is Jimmy Hoffa buried there?
I don't see that an interior fix will really fix the problem - it's just a bandaid....there is a reason the plywood is rotting probably related to a lower grade of treatment being used coupled with poor moisture managment on the exterior of the plywood. Dig up that spot from outside the wall and fix it proper or simply leave it alone until you save enough box tops to do it right.
I am betting that the reason is drainage off the carport slab is adding excessive amts of water right there.
I can gaurantee you the rot is far worse from the outside than what you see inside so far. And you need to deal with the drainage issue too, so you will need to dig in under that carport slab
