I can’t find Drawings of that Japanese Roof Style I’d call a Dutch Hip, but really isn’t because the hip isn’t a 45.
The roof usually has a broad overhang.
I’d sure appreciate any kind of a drawing of this roof, or even some pics !

Hey KK, that was a very good tip, providing me with the actual name for that roof style. Found all kinds of good info googling !
Phil, what is that link you provided ? Is that some sort of Search Engine ? There were lots of great links in there, but all pointing towards pagodas, not tea houses.
Can you tell me how you came up with that page ?

I use a meta-search technique looking for Japanese architecture and blueprints for roofs; they were keywords in that search engine (so my search found it), so I cranked up the engine and violá. I looked at a couple and they had the roof style you described, but I'll leave to you to find out if any of the drawing are interesting.
PS, best I can remember, most of the "real" tea houses just had simple bamboo roofs..

Ah haa .. looking specifically for plans and blueprints ! That sounds very promising ! But, all those roofs are the wrong Style I'm looking for. The correct roof, but much to ornate of a Style.
Don't suppose you could explain how to do this type search ? I'd like to do that search using ' Soan Style Tea House Roof ', and also ' Shoin Style . . . ' .. that ought to do it !
Soan is the style I think I'm after .. very simple, pure .. rustic. Shoin is a bit more refined. I'd also like to try ' Sukiya Style '.
Thanks for the hep guys ! I'm starting to find some Good Info !
Then just do a simple search on those types of values, you get sites like (I found about 80 hits)

Then, quickly go through them looking for what you want, but if not there, copy down some key words and do another, more precise, search..
