Couldn't resist... I have no idea what "Jean Insulation" is.
Edit... I Googled it and see that it's shredded up jeans. Go figure.
I know nothing about it, but my first thought is that cotton has never impressed me with it's ability to hold it's loft, moisture tolerance, and R value.
I figgered it was a snowmobile suit for his girlfriend.
(Or else it's shredded denim -- a more expensive form of cellulose. The main advantage over cellulose, I believe, is that it comes in batts of some sort.)
Don't know details but ...
On the plus - it recycles jeans!!! and we all thought they were worthless even after long past being shredded/worn out
On the minus - it's probably more expensive than equivalent counterparts (e.g. cellulose/fiberglass).
I bought some safetouch ... made in part from recycled pop bottles.
I've used it, worked great.
It is really dense, about 1/2 way between FG and foam rubber in consistency. In a package of say 5 batts, two of them will have a pre-scored vertical 4" section that is easier to pull off if you need to narrow the piece for any reason.
