My son Jeff is living life again to the fullest. I exposed him to his first ultralight ride Saturday. I took off in my gyrocopter in pursuit and soon caught up with them. Jeff was ecstatic seeing the world from up there…then his ol man circled in front and took these pictures. The picture #5 shows the tip of my rotorblade at the top of the picture.

What a nice way to start my day with your post and pictures of Jeff joining us in the skies.
Gabe
Gabe: Flying is a lot of fun...and just seeing Jeff going from the lowest point in his life to this new altitude..is no pun intended. I never thought the story would have this good of an ending.
I tell ya Stan, when your asss is full of splinters from scraping the bottom of the barrel, it makes the view from the top that much sweeter.
Gabe
Gabe: and anyone else....please excuse my exhuberance over Jeff. 2002 was the worst year for our whole family and I was in a zombie state all year. I actually think this is good therapy to let some of this out. I thoroughly enjoy being able to post some of his activities. He practically stared at four walls for 18 months and his only activities were going to the porcelain. What a freakin relief to see him going from the depths of despair to flying in the air.....I thought I was a tough guy..but no more.
stan... bring on your exuberance.. we can all celebrate with you...

Stan,
God Bless You and Jeff and the rest of your family and keep bringing on the exhuberance. It took me 7 years and I finally had my son Joey and he's 4 and a half now, I talk about him and show pictures of him every day even to strangers, I want to be with him 24 hrs a day.
Since my father died when I was 5, I never really knew what it was like to have a father and son relationship but now I do and I treasure him and will protect him with my life. It's great to see a father like you and the pictures with Jeff with so much love.

Stan,
Nice pictures
flying a ultralight is something I've always wanted to do, however I have a fear of flying.
Anyway its must be a great way to spend time with your son.
Good luck and best wishes!

Stan,
Great pictures. Thanks for posting them for all to see. I'm very happy for you, Jeff and your family and friends.
How did the alligator hunting go? Hope you took my advice about skinny dipping at midnight. Those gators will take a bite out of anything!
Ken
Ken: Thanks. The alligator hunt was awesome. Jeff and I both got one and we brought back 45 pounds of alligator meat on the plane. We had that hunt bookfed for two years...I took lots of pictures but I cant post them because they take forever to upload and download. When I figure how to downsize them,,I will send you some.
Stan
Click on the post in the Photo Gallery titled "Irfanview" that will explain how to download software (free). It works great and is very easy to use, can resize, change color and a whole host of things. Piffin turned me on to it and its great.
Also have you seen the pics of the curved stairway over in FWW gallery, kind of interesting and unusual.
As always enjoy your stuff
Doug
Hey Dad, can I borrow the ultralite tonite!!!! ;^)
Stan,
Happy to hear your son is doing well. I'm even happier to hear you guys fly during the daytime, we don't need anymore fly by night stairbuilders out there.
Now THAT was funny.....If God doesn't destroy Hollywood Boulevard, he owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.
Hi Stan,
Good for you and good for your son too!
Now, a couple questions:
Is there an ultralight that could carry 300 lbs + (is that an oxymoron?) (I'm asking for a buddy, ya know)
And, what do you have for safety up there? A parachute? Is it too low for a parachute? I assume you can glide with no power, but...................holy sheeit!
Here is a picture of an ultralight flying over the Penobscot River in Maine. But his looks like a flying parachute.
Rod: The ultralight in that picture was hauling the pilot who is 200 pounds..and Jeff who is 275. It isnt really an ultralight because it has two seats. The weight is still under the ultralight rules. The pilot has a BFI rating and can train in it.
My gyrocopter has its own parachute...the rotor. It never stalls..and my 14 forced landings have all been soft and under 5 mph.
Stan, 14 forced landings? Maybe you oughtta make room in that dash for a fuel gauge..........
Joe H
Joe: I never ran out of fuel. I had floats break...ignition failures...fuel pump failures...cylinder bolts sheared off....by the way...these were mostly on an old Bensen I had back in 1985.
Armin: good one..I am still chuckling...
OK Stan Left rear tire looks a little low whats up wit dat?
You sure don't have to worry about running into any mountains around there do you?
It's great to see you both "Flyin High"

I'm glad things are so much better, some stress is off you, and I think lucky is the next person you create for. I have been in awe of your work since I first saw it, and I have been working on houses for almost thirty years, so I've seen quite a bit.
I hope things only get better for you and your family in the future.
Dave
Dave: Thanks...but seriously..there are several more on here that should have the awe pointed to instead of my little jobs.
Well....if you say so, but stair building, especially curved stairs are something that not everyone can build, and judging by the houses(or at least what can be seen of them) your stairs go in, says that you stand out among stairbuilders.
