Wait til you get the bill for the Donkey D!ck from the plumber.
Is that the slang for that long plug used for testing a mud bed shower? I bought one a few years back, had never seen it just had the basic terminology. So, I'm standing at the counter and I open the box and just bust out laughing... if they weren't so expensive it would make a great gag gift for someone.PaulB

I thought Donkey D!ck was a slang term used for a concrete vibrator?Intimidation is the sincerest form of battery
The only references to "jelly bean" I know of that have to do with electrical, one is for neon signs, the other jelly bean is an electrical terminal block.

Wire nuts?

Any low-voltage work in there? A small, insulated bed-of-nails type device is commonly used in the alarm and telecom industry to connect 2 or 3 wires together. The connection is completed with a crimping tool. Some of them are filled with a gel that prevents corrosion. In any event, they are commonly referred to as 'beans':

Pay 7 cents apiece, charge $1 ... sweet!

Of course, I'm only speculating. They might very well be gel-filled wire nuts, although I've never heard wire nuts referred to as 'beans' before.
Ok ya old fert, between us we got about 80+ years in the electrical trades and I've never heard anthing called a jelly bean.
Ya keep'n somethin back? Do I need to learn a new secrete handshake or sumptin to get a jelly bean?
Your electrician needs to keep his blood sugar level up to work at his peak performance.
A buck a bag is a good price for Jelly Belly jelly beans, doesn't appear to be marked up or anything! :=)

My partner and I figured out what they are. In the lightswitch boxes he's got these little do- hickeys that the red and black wires stick into so that we can use the lights. When we turn off the light we pull out the black. To turn em on we stick the black back in. There are four of em.
weird term

just so ya know ...
they now make switches that do much the same ... 'cept ya don't have to pull a wire out each time ... probably cost more though.

You know how decorators can be - they were probably going for that 19th century industrial look...:)

For low voltage....Always called them chiclets, maybe jelly beans is a regional term thing, like stone dust vs. dg
I know - but I guess he's putting them up after rough in :)
