Built a jig with a hold down clamp in the middle of a 12″ by 20″ plywood base then put a 2×4 on the bottom edge and mounted a cheap plastic vice to the side.
Drilled a bunch of extra holes for screwing it to my work table in various positions also let the 2×4 run long by an inch on both sides so I could clamp it down.
Works way better than I expected.
