Saw is Bosch 1584 VS……. tried changing blades as per diagram on saw…….. cutting 3/4 BB plywood…… every so often the blade jumps loose.
Question…. there is a groove in the chuck where the blade goes…… does the groove have to be parallel to the direction of feed?
Mine is at right angles to this direction…… I cant turn the chuck…… is it supposed to turn?
I am using Bosch blades for wood.
Saw has worked well for several years….. now suddenly blades wont hold.
Thanks,
CZ.

I don't have that model, but............
Here's a link to the owners manual. Should have all that's needed to see what's up.

On mine, not barrell grip, you put in the blade sideways, turn blade to direction of cut, turn top knob/handle to tighten down till it starts to click.

jigsaw blades falling out
Thanks for the owners manual....... couldn't find mine.
I seem to have been replacing blades exactly as instructed.
Have flooded the moving mechanism with WD40 to loosen anything binding.
It is getting better..... less frequent blade shedding.
Are you using........
Bosch blades?
And turning that knob enough?-the clicks evidently don't over tighten, just prove the lock up has been made.
jigsaw blades fall out
bosch blades..... brand new.
I turn knob clockwise until 1 click then I push the tabs back up.
Plywood has a tendency to flex and bounce which rattles the blade loose.
Cutting large radius circles so binding is not an issue.
BB plywood is 9 ply...... exterior glue...... tough on blades.
CZ.
No tabs on mine to push up, just turn the locking mechanism.
Try a couple of clicks.
And maybe a finer blade meant for tighter radius. The deeper the shank behind the teeth, the more binding.
Perhaps shorten the thrust of the blade with that switch on the side. You don't want zero, but maybe a notch or two below full.
jigsaw blades fall out
Thanks for the help.
I've been cutting on 3....... I'll try 1....... BB is very dense.

"out of orbit"
I believe I have the same jig saw.
Try adjusting the orbital action button to zero before installing the blade. That seemed to make it easier to fully insert the blade before turning it 90 and turning the top crank until it clicks.
