So there's an interesting discussion at JLC about jigsaws, in particular the Bosch and Festool models, overcutting on the bottom of the stroke.
You know anything about this? Designed to do this for some reason?
Here's a photo showing the cant of the blade.

It could be one of two things. Either it has an orbital cutting action or the blade isn't inserted fully. On my 18v cordless dewalt jigsaw the blade can almost be fully in and will stay in but will be crooked like that.
can't see the cant...
he has the saw in orbit mode???
just a guess...

If you look at the photo, there's a Veritas square on the left. The blade looks square-ish by the saw shoe, but leans to the right as it gets to the end.I think there were several suggestions to check the orbital setting, and I believe he did, and that wasn't the issue.Thought it was interesting that several people went back to check their Festools and Boschs, and found a similar issue. So I started to wonder if it was like that on purpose.'Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it' ~ Chinese proverb

blade holder or the blade was torqued while it was hot...

Festool does
I agree with the Bosch, but if you guys could only have one which would it be, Handle or Barrel?
I have the handle
No one should regard themselve as "God's gift to man." But rather a mere man whos gifts are from God.

I now have the top handle, the barrel one I had had since sometime in the early 80's went in for repairs and never came back.
I prefer the barrel grip myself. Been looking to pick one up again.

I have both...
how did "if you could have only one" figure into buying tols...

I knew it was coming, it dosent but for some mambe pambe types--- No one should regard themselve as "God's gift to man." But rather a mere man whos gifts are from God.
for the cost of one festool you could have two Bosch jig saws in one of each......
accessories are way cheaper too...

Barrel grip. Top handle is for kids.
depends what fits your hand and how you will be using it.
IMO, top handle better at a bench and barrel better for free hand and undercutting like with the Collins foot coping

Excellence is its own reward!
All I can say is that, on a whim, I replaced my $20 "DIY Special" jigsaw with a $150 jigsaw, and continue to be amazed at the difference. Much smoother cuts, better control, less dust in the face, etc. The tool-less blade change is also a boon.
Hundred piece. And none of those where the edges all look alike.
