A few days ago I posted about getting dinged for 87 bucks brokerage fee for getting four mitre clamps into Canada.
Well now that I actually have them I must say they are great. Unbelievable the pressure they can exert. Makes the spring clamps seem chincy.
Anybody else with good or bad experience with these clamps?

gdcarpenter here. Sorry we didn't have more time to chat in Canada, taking care of dad's place was more than a full time job. Back in CT
now. 2 weeks away and 2 employees here when I left are gone and 4 new guys in! Seems I brought the heat down here with me. Looks like house will close July 4th. Maybe catch that beer in August, back at camp.

I have been Cliffy here a long time. Way back when I originally registered Christhecarpenter was too long. Cliffy is my nick name with my old hockey team,(Cliffy from Cheers).
When Ellen and I finished our bike ride I showed here your JLC article. My mon lives just down the street from your Dads house. I guess you will have fun training the new guys , maybe you will be lucky and they are highly skilled.
Our New York trip is on the back burner for now because our friend is getting married next Feb and they are having it at a resort in MOntego Bay Jamaica. I think that will consume the vacation fund for awhile, especially if we bring the twins.

I have some of those clamps and I dont use them all that much but when I do they are everything they need to be.
Very well made tool.

Cliffy, you mnetioned spring clamps you had before. Are those the ones from Lee Valley? I was looking at them and thinking of trying them. No good?
The spring clamps I bought are from Rockler in the states. They may be similar or even the same as Lee Valley, I have not checked their catalogue lately. They are good for alot of different uses but don't have the gusto of the Chestnut clamp. My wife drives an 92 explorer to work with 460 000 kms. On weekends we all go out together in an 04 Expedition. Does that give you the idea.
The Chestnut clamps cost me a few bucks though. So far I would say they are going to pay for themselves.
