Are you interested in doing restoration work(preservation carpentry) I'm in your area and very busy
Thank you for your kind reply... I have been commuting to St. Louis since mid September and will need a couple of more months to finish up that project.

Do you take I-55 down to St. Louis?
If so, I'm just off the interstate. The truss plant I work at is on the southeast corner of exit 60 (route 108).Income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf. [Will Rogers]
Yepper... headed down there again this morning... got delayed 1 day this week. I'll wave as I go by! LOL
may need a little help with some trim work in Chicago, will need a a couple of refereces but Beloit seems a long way to go to the city. There is a lot of work on the trim to make it right, planing and cutting as there is about a 1/8" to 1/4" gap from the trim to the sheetrock If you are realy interested I will pay a fair wage but not for travel time. email [email protected] with the other stuff it coud be 3-5 days it is a 3 piece baseboard and six piece door trim to match the rest of the house. I can do it my self but the wife is preg and I am ust about out of time.

Thanks for asking... I'm still tied up with a project in St. Louis...
I'm tied up with a job in Chicago! My availability is always at least a month in advance and I usually have at least one helper. I do a lot of work on these older bungalows, frame houses, 6 flats and all. Maybe you want to take a look at some of it. It's not restoration but I've done that as well - some in Wilmette and some in Logan Square (Old Mansions), but all that was many years ago.
I've fabricated sashes and replicated milwork, built a couple of oak stair cases (one of which you can see), built panel walls, wainscoating (will wainscoat a bathroom this week), tile, plaster-n-drywall, cabinetry, tile roof repairs... You get the idea.
My favorite kind of work is upgrading kitchens and baths in otherwise untouched (not butchered) old houses. I'm good at coordinating with plumbers, electricians and all. Equally good at keeping an eye on their work, as I know it almost as well as they do. A little HVAC even. Have been working on vintage apartments the past few years, along with a lot of handy services. Trying to get away from the small jobs but they do fill in the blanks.
Ever need to gather a small demolition crew? I've done it. Jack up a sinking load bearing wall? Been there. Remove a load bearing wall? I've even put the beam in the ceiling. There's a lot I havn't done but who can't say that? I do top notch work and have a decent collection of tools.
One thing, I work 8 or 9 hour days, max. Saturdays are pricey and sundays are in case of emergency only, and very pricey! I treasure my personal time as I think everyone should. But I'm flexible - I can start at 7 or 8, 9 if they're late sleepers.
