I am actually a small builder moving from the mountains of VA to the coast of FL. Too small to financially survive the downtime of establishing and promoting my business, and gaining licensing in Jacksonville. Why then would I move? So my five month old daughter can be near her three grandparents (to be honest I am ready to be done with winter slowing projects to near standstill; I won’t miss the clay and limestone either). So anyway, I am looking for work with a quality builder in the area for at least a year or two until I am settled; who knows, maybe I won’t miss the joys of running my own company at all. I came up as a carpenter and have done a bit of most everything else along the way. Before venturing out on my own, I ran the day-to-day on-site for a small custom home builder. I did site layout, footer layout, pinned the corners for the foundation, supervised framing, built the roofs and stairs, and trimmed the houses (sometimes cabinets and tile as well, depending on our schedule), in addition to ordering materials, coordinating subs and massaging egos. I am hoping to fill a similar position. I am still young and healthy and enjoy the physical aspect of building (I still wear several hats on my own houses), so I would consider a lead carpenter or trim carpenter job with the right company for the right compensation. Thanks in advance for any leads.

call the D.B. Kenyon company and talk to Rusty White or Tom White -- Rusty is more commercial, Tom custom home residential. either way, this is the biggest baddest company in town and they do great work, I'm one of their subs (Pete Herman -- detail carpentry) -- start your search at the top. their # is 904 777 0833
good luck.
