New here, just at a loss where to find the information I need. I am doing an addition close to dayton ohio. I know the soil type and type of foundation I’m going to pour. I have some experience in concrete but not foundation specifically. Currently my house is a slab on a block foundation and poured footer. I want to know how to tie in the new foundation which will be poured, to the old. Ive seen where the poured foundation has the dowels put in with epoxy but this wouldn’t work with empty blocks. Any advice is appreciated.
One other follow up question as I cant find in the ohio codes is the spacing of the rebar connecting the foundations together. There will be about 25 ft that will need tied together. every 1,2,3feet?
I really appreciate any and all help! Thanks,

First thing to consider is that you are connecting a solid, single-unit wall to a hollow multi-unit wall. Doweling to a few blocks will only create a connection to those individual blocks.
One way to improve the connection to the full block wall is to drop a rod or two of rebar into the hollow cells of the block wall and pour in non-shrink grout. This will tie the stack of blocks into a single unit. This should be done for at least the first 3 columns of block and then every 4' of the block wall.
This all is beyond your pay-grade (and mine) and should be specified by an engineering pc, otherwise your liability cannot be protected.
