Well, the custom ordered knobs and pulls finally arrived(ordered July 1st), so I was able to get some pictures of the completed work. It’s a small kitchen, latex paint over Poplar, Acrylic Laquer top coat. The counters are Catalpa, a native(maybe not) tree around my parts(NY). This job took about 5 weeks, and was an enjoyable project because the client was so easy to work with, and always ready with checkbook in hand when it came time for a payment.

As others have said, good job. What I like about it is the simplicity. Most people want every fancy thing they find in home and garden magazine.
Looks good . Did n't you find that the catalpa was a bit soft for counter top? My catalpa feels soft ,easy to dent by puting a pan down at an exssesive rate. I have used it for cabinets and trim. Did you stain the counter ?
Yes it is a bit soft, and if the client had children I would not have used it. As it is, she's a single professional without 'baggage', and both she and I felt it would serve fine. The main reason I even considered it is because of it's stability, and the fact that it was air dried for several years, the availability, cost, and uniqueness(nobody else in the 'hood has it).
even Maple will dent if you put down a pot or pan at an 'excessive rate'.

Nice work Dave, can you tell me what the "acrylic lacquer" top coat that you are using, I've never heard of using something like that over latex.
Can you explain the benefits of doing that over latex?
I used Oxford PSL. Latex paint is a bit on the soft side, so I sot two coats of PSL over it to help toughen it up some.
I'm sorry, but ignorance is showing what is Oxford Psl, and do you use a hvlp to apply. Where do you purchase?
That would be Oxford Premium Spray Laquer. I get it from Target Coatings, but I think it's available from other sources as well.
I use a conversion gun, and a high pressure gun.
