Thought I would try another post. Looking for how others keep track of information they come across in reading trade magazines, or newspaper articles??
I tried keeping the magazines, but in no time at all, they take up too much space. Then I remember I read somewhere about a tool or product I want, but can’t find where I read it.
Scan the articles?
Cut the out and file?
??????
Thanks for the help.

Frank, the mags like FH have an index every so often and online at the FH site. These, if you type in or look up the right name, will help you find the right issue and if kept ordered in those mag/file holders is the method I use. The other mags are tough. No index relies on memory which if like mine.............
People ask here often about some title or topic or tool. Response is usually pretty darn quick and amazingly accurate.
Otherwise, a search on the internet turns up a massive bunch of titles to sift through. Good luck usually prevails as a means to find the right one, but it does work.

Frank certain magazines I keep. For instance I have virtually every Remodeling magazine since '84 ( you know Hanley-Woods publication) and up until a few years ago I used had every single copy of Journal of Light Construction from back when it was called New England Builder. I still have all the old copies but now I live off of a JLC online subscription so I have a complete library of past issue via the CDs and I read and download PDFs I'm interested in from the current issues from the website.
And while I know FHB and FWW are on CD now I haven't gone that route since I have almost complete libraries of both publications.
I've also cut out articles from magazines like Builder, Professional Builder and more since yeah, ya can't keep everything, and I have them either filed in hanging folders according to topics or in notebooks.
I have a freaky memory for remembering that a certain article is a certain magazine that has a picture of something or other on it cover that makes it relatively easy to find stuff when I'm looking for it and I also keep a database file so that for certain topics I can look up a subject and I will tell me all the good magazine articles I read on it, or people I've talked to, companies and URL related to a particular topic. That's hit or miss though and I really wish I had done better at keeping that up but every once in while I do remember to do it.
