Anyone know where to get these now?
So, I’ve seen these little red kerf slide drawers in WW mags and such for eons and while I always liked them, I never had a project for them.
Well, wouldn’t ya know it my old junky mechanic toolbox broke recently and I decided to build one custom using those trays. I jumped on the internet and found nothing.
Heck, it took me forever just to track down who used to make them: http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=46037&cat=1,43326
More searching and I found nothing similar.
I did find this Snap On tool box which is almost exactly what I was intending to build but they want over $500 for it!!!!!:
My next thought is to just get some metal and bend up my own.
Any help, thoughts, or advice?

Baking pans would be pretty close to what you're after.

I think I've seen them at Lee Valley or whatever Rockler is called now.
Edit: Whoops, I see you posted Lee Valley. Sorry.

Why not make your own? Wood drawer box the size you need but make the drawer bottom stick out to slide in the saw kerf.
I was thinking the same except cutting a kerf in the side of the drawer and inserting a piece of material to rid in the kerf of the cabinet. maybe a thin strip of metal 3/32 thick or so.

guess you could also attach angle metal to the outside of a drawer box for the same effect.

The way your thinking will place stress on a very small area. Just over size the drawer bottom.
