Hello to all,
I’d like to get some advice on kitchen design and kitchen cabinets. Any info on where to go or what places or products to avoid. I’m in southern Rhode Island. Just saying
Simple air-sealing measures and spray-applied sealant lower energy bills and increase comfort without the need to tear the house apart.

I'm not sure what tis supposed to be about but thaks for your reply
Visit your local library (yes, they still exist) and check out some books on kitchen remodel, cabinets, etc. The library will have many books to choose from.

Peruse this site:

But first-design what you would like in the kitchen-think food prep as well as storage. Your steps in cooking. Think also of capturing the outdoors within your kitchen-much time can be spent in the kitchen so why not make it appealing as well as utilitarian.
Much outdoor cooking or eating? Layout with this in mind adds yet another branch to a well designed kitchen.
Don't go overboard but plan this kitchen as if it is the perfect space.
Then of course, temper your great idea according to $'s, cents, and potential resale.
best of luck.
Be sure to consider access and clearance issues. Having a dishwasher whose door blocks access to the cabinets where you'd put the dishes is a classic. "Cute" arrangements like corner sinks make it hard for two people to work near the sink. Etc.
you again for the help and advice. I figure if I bring in the layout of my current cabinets a perhaps some photos and measurements, I can at least begin with what I don't like about my current set up.
I'll be in touch once I get this process moving.
I'd recommend checking out Ikea's virtual planner. I'm currently remodeling my kitchen with Ikea cabinets, so I'm more familiar with them. You may decide that Ikea products don't meet your standards. That's fine. Even so, their design tool is free to use and can be very helpful in creating and visualizing various layouts. It also incorporates an intuitive system of prompts and cautionary messages about distance requirements, potential interference issues, etc.. The software isn't perfect, but it's flexible enough for most people to play around with some different ideas. Once you achieve a satisfactory plan, you can purchase your materials from the supplier you prefer.
Of course, this forum is one of the best resources you could ask for. I'm a DIY'er that's been engaged in remodeling my home for a number of years and I've called on these guys many times for assistance. They've taught me a lot during that time.
I commend you for taking the time to do your homework before getting started. You'll be glad you did.

I'd suggest stopping at a kitchen center or a real lumberyard., (No big box stores) Talk to the kitchen design people and see if you connect with them.
You might find the nicest, most helpful person in the world, or you might find a high pressure sales jerk. Keep trying until you find someone you can connect with.
I hear you about that. Now I have to set up some time on a schedule where both me and the wife can make it.
Thank you again, KaiserRoo
