   Oh no! Chipboard, ack. The kitchen and bathroom are both "wet" rooms and chipboard is a strongly discouraged for any quality remodel. When in contact with water it will swell and ruin the finish and apperance of the cabinet. Make sure you caulk them in real well and hope for the best. Painting the bare edges before you install them can add a bit of protection and will often extend the life of the cabinet. In the future you can often find locally built plywood built cabinets for the same price, though usually not with a baked on factory finish. Good luck to you, and keep those things dry!.

   Love how you don't consider your brand of bubblegum construction advice and half thought out corner cutting spam. (would you really shave a series of bottom plates to avoid using a diamond cup on an angle grinder? do you not have an angle grinder? I just can't follow your thinking there bud) While labeling my genuine thoughts as spam on my 3rd day in the forum.  Way to go. Just fyi I am an experienced contractor from Katy, Tx. A real person, running a real business. I generally consider myself a stand up guy, and I'm not quite sure what your problem is. It does seem from some of the posts I read this evening that you have had a problem with spammers here. I assure you I don't sell anything online or nationally. I simply build stuff close enough to my house that at the end of the day I might make a buck. I am new to the forum and while looking around found 4 or 5 posts to reply too. That is, after all, what a person who joins a forum does is it not? Either way if you think I'm trying to sell you a new toolbox or something, I'm not. Just sharing some of my expertise, and thoughts in this forum. Though if you need it I got a spare angle grinder I could mail you. Take care.

   I took a look at your site.  Not attempting to be critical, but is it still in the building stage?  I found the links within just take you back to the home page.  My complements however on the simple easy to read first page.

   Yes, it is still in the early stages. I plan on those links and others going to a content section. That section would have various articles and information on the techniques I use and recommend. I really think this will help in both explaining to customers and new hires/contractors how we do things.

   It's a big undertaking so I put the site up now to have the quote generator active and get the site going in the search engines. It's a process, but it's moving along. Having 5-6 projects a month, 3 kids, a wife and assorted life events tends to slow things down a bit.  My goal is to have it totally up by the end of the summer.  I'm still learning alot about having a website up, making it search well, what people want, etc. If you have your own website feel free to contact me for some free advice.    Hell, I rarely pass out business cards.

   I do have a phone number and if you come referred, then we probably will talk.

   This is a new marketing strategy-do quality work for 40 years, get a good reputation and continue on in business.

   Novel idea, no?

   That's certainly the business model I'm trying to implement, though I need another 30 years before I can make that claim. That's quite an impressive resume, good on ya. Nothing beats referrals, and word of mouth hands down. I've had good luck with yard signs, but tend to think the truck magnets are pretty much useless. They tend to just lead to many calls from subs and laborers looking for work. Atleast that has been my experience.

   Repeat customers and referrals are my bread and butter though. Having never advertised other than the yellow pages, I simply am intrested to see how much I can grow my business with a bit of an online presence. Primarily because I come into contact with so many contractors doing substandard work, and charging outrageous prices. They certainly aren't more skilled than me, they just tend to advertise better. Living in the 4th largest city in the country there are plenty of high end remodels out there, I would just like to get my name out a bit more, and am hoping that the internet might help with that. Who knows, we'll see. I can tell you that putting something together like what I have in mind is a hell of alot of work.

   Man, you shoulda been here b/4.

   There was good, great and you bet-weird.  It took years and saw a lot of coming and going, but the friendships made here were something else.

   We've had births, deaths and everything in between.

   It's why I stay here.

   But the Fests?   definitely make a point of getting to one.   You'll get a new feeling for the trade.  If you don't,   it's because you fell asleep too early or passed out too soon
