Kitec (PEX-AL-PEX) use for hydronic floor heating
I have a coil of 1/2″ IPEX Kitec tubing I would like to use for a loop of hydronic floor heating. I have learned it has been recalled and is no longer manufactured due to failures caused by the corrosion of IPEX fittings and possible tubing failures.
I will be using hot water but the pressure will be low and there are fittings made by other manufacturers available. I wish to use that tubing because I will need lots of bends in one loop and that tubing is easier to work with compared to Oxy PEX.
The tubing is to be a “staple-up” with heat transfer plates so any leaks could be spotted and repaired unless the entire tubing has gone bad.
Any comments please.

I have Kitec pex in my house for the hydronic feed/return and supply tubing. If you do use it make sure any connections are in an accessible location should you ever have to cut back the tubing due to the aluminum core corroding near a fitting. And leave enough play in the section to reconnect to the trimmed end. It;s likely that it will last 20+ years before the tubing will need to be trimmed.
