A guy offered to sell me a knife for cuttling foam or cells so that it would not protrude past the stud surface. The price of $250 seemed a little steep unless its plated. Where can I check the prices on the net?

Ken,
Get yerself a cheap sharksaw.
Now, if yer still looking to spend that 250 bucks, I have a bridge you might be interested in.
*Luka,Some tools are expensive, but ......... A semi sharp metal straight edge should do the trick.thanks
*A dull, chipped old sharksaw, or dozuki will do an admirable job. Or a bread knife. And if you really want to do an artsy job of it, use an electric carving knife.250 bucks for a knife to cut foam with.... Someone thought they saw you coming. You don't happen to have a turnip stuck to your sleeve, do you ?
*Ken, I went to the local thrift store and bought several serrated bread knife. work great. fifty cents each.walk gooddavid
*Hi David,Never though about bread knives at a thrif store. They would probably work better than a semi sharp piece of metal.thanks
*Bread knives is what I've been using for the past 10 years. Works great on cutting foam/polyiso sheets also. My wife doesn't like it cause I keep losing them!!
*I just used my large wood saw to level between the studs. The saw worked out great since it can bridge the 24" span between studs.
*if you must use a hot knife... and if you ever have then you'd never use and old bread knife again... check where they sell dryvit or sto wall... if you like to play....then get an old model train transformer and nickle wire and make a hot knife... all the guys who build model planes ect.. do... look on some of their web sites...
*I use a old battery charger connected to nichrome wire for my "hot wire"
*A hot knife will cut foam with a good dose of carcinogens you can inhale. It will not cut through cells any quicker than a knife.walk good
