Am about to start building of 2500 sq. ft. in “Downeast” Maine. I have been advised that Kolbe and Kolbe windows and doors are of good quality and that I can save substantiallyby purchasing in Canada. I would appreciate comments on quality of this companies products and if worth buying in Canada?

We put seven Kolbe & Kolbe doors in a house five years ago, and when one of the doors developed a bow, the rep came down from Toronto five hours away to have a look, replaced the door... I think they might be just about the best doors I've seen. Unique latching mechanism, top & bottom as well as the usual jamb latch, they'd be near impossible to kick in. If the price is right, I'd say go for it. Never seen their windows, but I'd guess they'd be as good quality as the doors.
