I have been looking into casement windows by Kolbe&Kolbe. They look like an excellent product. Does anyone have any experience with them? How do they compare with casements like Andersens or Pella? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

To prevent moisture buildup and improve performance, install a continuous air barrier—such as drywall or specialized membranes—under tongue-and-groove boards or other interior wall paneling.

I have installed many, many Kolbe windows and doors and I think they are an excellent product. I have consistently been impressed by their quality. Check out their Ultra series, which have extruded aluminum exterior trim. Practically bulletproof.
I agree with Nick. They are good windows and a cinch to install. Improved a lot over the ones that were in my first house but those were installed more than 20 years ago.
I have a Kolbe & Kolbe casement right in front of me, at the computer. Quite possibly the smoothest operating casement I've seen. Kind of like the wood sash interior, as opposed to the cladding on some others. The only thing I've noticed, by having both Kolbe and Andersen casements in my house is; The Kolbe's are more prone to condensation and frosting, on the North side of the house. They are also older, so that could be the problem. Having done homes with some of the major companies( Kolbe, Andersen, Pella, & Marvin). I usually recommend Andersen & Kolbe to my customers. Kolbe has some great exterior trim options, and sash variations that I find more suitable to some homes.

Kolbe tops my list for quality oriented. Nobody else matches them. Couldn't be happier with the ones I've installed, and the customers are too.

Not a great answer but......Pellas are a serious waste of money.
Anderson makes a great window for the money..probably best of all (for the money).
MArvins are a great window but expensive....but great.
Kolbe and Kolbe are a beautiful window as well but also expensive but also great....
Thing is they all offer different advantages so its up to your needs and pocket book.....Did I mention that Pellas are a waste of money yet?

In his first interview since the stroke, Ram Dass, 66, spoke with great difficulty about how his brush with death has changed his ideas about aging, and how the recent loss of two old friends, Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, has convinced him that now, more than ever, is the time to ``Be Here Now.''

Andy,
Maybe it's a Long Island thing, but I agree with everthing you said about the windows. By the way did I mention Pella is a waste of money? "Don't take life too seriously, you are not getting out of it alive"
Check out Semco windows, excellent quality at good price. You've might not have heard of them, but they don't spend alot of money on advertising, seems to go into their product.
