anybody ever see someone put latter racks on a dump trailer?
i have seen siding crews pulling what looks like a landscaping trailer with ladder racks—– ladders up top—–boxes of siding down on the trailer deck
Obviously– ladder racks on a trailer that dumps– would require some seriously carefull stowing of ladders, LOL.
current set up is a F250 with an ARE cap–which I LOVE
however- at the time I ordered the Cap– I intended to be largely out of roofing by this point so my figured I would be moving around 1-2 ladders occasionally at most
now- it looks like I am in roofing more than ever and I am gonna add some equipment to my dailey carry totalling on a regular basis 4-5 extension ladders, 1 or 2 picks and probably 10 toe boards
I could probably make do on the cap- but it would be awkward
considering a $1300 rack for the truck that wraps around and over the cap– but then I have all that sitting in MY driveway each night.
Leaving it on the trailer means I can just bring the truck home at night-where space is limmited
I rent storage space a few minutes away where the trailer is parked at night– leaving all the equipment un-attended would require a Bomb-proof lock-up method
any thought folks?

I put post holders all the way around on my dump trailer.
I have hauled long timber that way.
I think with the post holder setup you could make an easily removable yet stable enough to dump setup.
You would have to elevate the rack high enough so the load wouldn't drag the ladders and you would have to limit your length out the back so you wouldn't bind at full tilt.

I had racks put on mine and use them quite a bit. One lesson I've learned: make the back rack removeable. I've had the load hang on the rack when dumping. Usually only happens in cold weather when the bottom of the load freezes to the trailer and the trash at the front of the trailer gets elevated over the frozen part on the way out.

Well sheesh, Grant-- if YOU did it I just gotta do it now, LOLYes I was thinking about the back bar being removable--- i had a ladder racks on 2 trucks like that and it was handy.
i will probably do em so they are high enough to clear the cap on the truck-which is gonna make em a pain to load and unload- we will probably need step stools(snort).
sold a job today to a custome i did some work for 19-20 years ago. supposed to get some snow---maybe some ice tonight--maybe some downed tree limbs--- 2009 could shape up!

Well, good luck with that. We're getting it right now - it's mostly just raining, but it's 29 degrees and dropping. The trees are starting to droop. http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
