What is a fair price in your opinion(s) for laying hardwood and laminate floors. I’ve done a few small jobs for people I know and their freinds. However, Rona (hardware store) has put me on the list of people they recommend for flooring installation. Everyone is very pleased with my work. (It’s funny, because they are very nervous when I show up at the door because I’m only 18. But by the time I’m done, they are asking me if I make furniture.) I have been charging $2.00 CDN (I live in Salmon Arm, BC) a sq. ft. Is this reasonable? Should I charge extra for doors? I also sell the stuff. I go to flooring auctions with my Dad and we buy good quality hardwood for cheap. I just finished installing a mahogany floor for $4.25 a sq.ft, material and installation included. It looks very nice. I own all my own tools, so should I factor their cost in? Any help would be very much appreciated.

C'mon down! At those prices, I can keep you busy until you drop. $4 US for labor only is in the ballpark here.

What area of the states do you live? I live in a community where 50% of the population is retired. I think they would choke at $4.00.
I'm in Ohio and get $6 (at a minimum). Old folks, young folks... no matter. I am high compared to some (most), but I don't seem to be lacking for floor work. My pricing includes doors, etc. Real complex jobs are upcharged from the $6.
At 18... yep, that is a disadvantage (ahh, I remember those days). You may have to take the answers you get here and adjust for a lack of experience.. whether it be real or perceived. Keep in mind, many of us have worked a long time to be able to get the rates that we do. I remember the first floor job I did... $.75/ft and all the pizza I could eat (and later on.. I got a date with the daughter of the customer)!
It is nice, though to hear that you are doing good work at a young age. Don't ever forget that good work will bring the money... not the other way around.
Best of luck to you... and one other thing... you make your own luck!

There's a thingy on the forum called "member profile" I think. See your name in the title of this post? In the "from-to: section? Left click on your name, and it opens a window, and yopu can enter various info. Left click on other peoples names and - sometimes - you can see where they live.
