Gentlemen; I purchased some Kronotex laminate flooring . I am putting it in the livingroom/hall. I figure I will have it upstairs for a couple or three years and when I get the basement finished then the flooring will be pulled up and put in the bedroom downstairs. Or I will dislike it so much by then that I will burn it. At that time I will have figured out which “good” flooring to put in the living room/hall. I only have $600 in it, without the backing. So I wont be out too much with the experiment. It is one of Kronotex’s mid to upper model.
Anyway, the question is. What type of backing to use? Can I just use the thin foam or do I need a moisture barrier also?
It will go over 5/8 Advantech which has red rosin paper under it, and under that is 3/4″ spruce subfloor. I believe the rosin paper is a moisture barrier? Right?
I thought of going to Homedepot or similar and getting a pergo or other brand name backing. I know, it will void any waranty. But I dont have enough in it to pursue it anyway.

Rez; Thanks! I have done a little searching on the net and found a few different underlayments that seemed decent. One being , Quiet Walk.
Anybody have any suggestions on a decent internet flooring company, to purchase the underlayment? I guess it does not have to be a flooring company. Just one that sells underlayment.
