Do you use those red glasses when working with lasers? We know not to look directly at the beam source, but it seems like the glasses would make things a little more comfortable.

This centuries-old paint offers vapor-permeabiity, maintainability, and longevity with zero VOCs, but know its limitations before you get to work.

I thought the purpose of the red glasses was just to help you see the beam on cheap units. I've seen the glasses come with the units in the $100 - $200 range. Do they protect your eyes?
They are only to enhance the beam in bright daylight; they don't offer any sort of eye protection.
My kids like to wear 'em when they ride in the truck with me.
The red tinted glasses filter out most colors except the red of course. This allows you to see a dim beam, due to either distance or abient illumination. In theory, they may actually amplify the intensity of the beam if you look directly at the emitter! Actually most construction lasers are grouped in a class that doesn't pose much of a risk. You'd get more damge looking at the sun. Unless you're peering at the laser emitter through a telescope with a magnifying glass, and your hip red shades.
Military ranging lasers are much stronger and can actually burn the retinas at range. As such the Army in its wisdom issued us with green tinted glasses to prevent us burning our eyes from friendly lasers during Desert Storm. The green filters out the red colored laser. What they didn't consider is that we weren't too worried about an errant friendly laser pointed at us so much as the 120mm shell or missile that was sure to be following it. The glasses weren't much use against them!
L--O--L!!!
The Hilti Man gave me a pair to try. They work. The beam seems a little more crisp. But the best thing about them is they turn the world freakin' psychedelic. They came in more handy for just plain Wow factor standing on the roof looking over the city. As far as being a help I am not organized enough to take off, put on, put away a pair of glasses. I wear safety glasses everyday. I don't take them off because I'll leave them and they'll end up scratched and I won't wear them anymore. If I was to try to wear them (the red ones) I'd fall off the roof. That's why they're sitting beside me on my desk right now. Waiting for the next time I need a cheap thrill. Speaking of Hilti. He came by today with their new 7 1/4 sidewinder. I am almost thinking about buying my first sidewinder after seeing it. They make great construction tools period.
I had a hilti nailer.
It sucked and sounded tinny.

Now that you mention that I remember from way back in the memory banks, pop pop spark spark, being around a Hilti nailer myself that as I recall, spark pop, was unimpressive also. But I haven't seen one in fifteen years at least.
Matter of fact I'm not sure they make them anymore, could be wrong but I don't recall seeing one in their catalog. I'll look today if I remember, spark pop. I have their full catalogue at work in the box.
