Okay, I know this has been discussed in the past, but it seems that every company is getting on the laser bandwagon and they seem to be constantly changing. My work is predominately remodeling kitchens, baths, rooms and also deck construction. I expect to shell out at least $500 for a decent laser. I don’t need the latest fancy look, just a good quality work horse. Any recommendations and personal experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

We use a Topcon RL 6o, or something, it's used with a stud finder like sensor that you can mount on a stick. Works ok.
listening for the secret.......searching for the sound...
It depends on the features you looking for, of course!
I just got the RoboToolz $199 unit from Amazon (Tool Crib), on special with the set up pole thrown in.
Not a lot of experience with it, but so far, what a time saver!
this model produces 5 laser points. one plumb line floor to ceiling, one horizontal level line, and one 90 degrees to that. It is self leveling (a must) but does not spin, which produces a "ring" around the room. Seems like that is what adds dollars to the price. My only complaint, is the need for the unit to recalibrate itself whenever it is moved. It takes 2 to 4 seconds, then when it shines a solid dot, it's level. Not much of a complaint, really! After much fooling with it, it seemed to have great repeatability, which is a pass/fail test!
I can think of a zillion things to do with it, and I've already done a bunch. I feel good about the expense vs the return in time saved and work quality increase.
Not sure about it outdoors though, but they do provide "enhancement" (red lens) glasses!
Hope this helps,
Good luck!
