I've notified the
b Milk Crate Police,
they'll be by tonight to seize you and your crates. Joe H
Nice mantle too!
*Wow greg ya gotter done. She turned out nice. For you guys who buy the fluted pieces Greg made his. I think that really adds to the character of the piece.
*hey man, like, those aren't my crates- some dude was drivin' by & they fell out of his truck- I was just holdin' on to em till he came lookin...
*Great looking Mantle Greg-Did you put a shop vac on your Christmas wish list or do you just blow it all out with a duster after your neighbor just washed his car? heheheheBob
*Bob-runnin those flutes in MDF does create a bit o' da dust- & now that you mention it, havent seen my neighbor washing his truck in a long time
*Greg- I don't know how to tell you this- someone has stolen your fireplace.nice mantle
*Greg: Nice work. I like that extra detail with the crown folling the pilasters. Looks good!
*that would explain the sudden chill in here...thanks,gb
*thanks, Stan- are you talking about the detail just below the crown?
*Greg: I meant to say "following" the pilasters. I like that extra detail with the crown following that little jog.
*Piece like that run about $1200-1500?
*Piece like that run about $1200-1500? I wish-would you get that much?1/2 that number...
*Greg-It's easy! You just paint it, take a picture, and then price it at $1295. If you really like the customer you can offer them a discount.I would pay you $1295 before I tried to make that. You do beautiful work so get paid for it!Bob
*Last one I did in paint grade about like that cost them close to $900 plus painting. That was before wages went up so I would be at about 1200 now.BTW I just installed another for the same customer in another room. They bought the surrond kit from a retail oak premanufacturer and I installed it. The kit was under $400 but it was so crappy that it cost $600 to install and still looks cheap. For slightly more money I could have made it look like it was designed into the wall instead of a patch job.I'll post the 900 painted here and the 1000 oak next in line
*here's the stained oak. With staining it was probably closer to 1250 installed. You can't see here how cheap some of the detail and millwork is.
*They saved a buck on that deal & it'll show forever.
*I don't even know if they saved that much. If I could have brought myself down to that level and left out the stopped fluting, necklace, Plinths, etc. I probably could have done it almost that price.
*finish product-
*Greg, Very nice looking work! Larry
*Anmother one to be proud of!
*WOW Greg. The paint job makes it look like a million bucks. You certainly don't have to charge a million, but you do deserve good compensation for that kinda work. Humbly Impressed, Dale
*Great Job Greg!- why don't you go ahead and take the rest of the year off- you deserve it.:-)
*thanks Bob- I needed that!thanks for all the nice words, peoples- here is the rest of the house- at least my parts
*from the other side
*from the other other side
*all this rope molding had me all tied up in knots
*first time I was asked to include a light rail- I think I like it
*I like to walk the job before drywall to try & catch anything that will cause problems - missed this one
*missed posting it to!!
*Great job Greg-that radius must have been fun to make on the crown, but then you're pretty handy with that belt sander.:-)
*you know it, buddy-have belt sander, will travel...
*You've just helped me out here. A customer of mine has picked out oak cabs and oak floor. I'm afraid theat too much browns will be flat looking but it looks great in yours althpough your maple is lighter than the oak will be.The detail of the rope mold was well worth studying. Too bad theyu didn't plan ahead for that crown over the arch at entry from the other other side.
*thanks, Piffin- I pointed that one out to the owner in plenty of time to address the sich. oh well...
