This is the latest home improvement project to date consisting of tearing out the carpet on the stairs and landing and installing new skirt boards, treads, risers and a landing with a sunburst appearence all made of ash. Custom made the door and window casings and the base board. With plans of making a set of six foot paneled bifold doors for the entry closet. See the on going project at

My GOD! It's so clean you can EAT off the floor!Priorities change. FIRST is a Hyster manlift and now tied at second is money and acreage.
Very nice. The "sunburst" kinda leads your eye around the corner and up the steps. It's really something to be proud of...!
Nice work but yur shop is disgusting...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming....
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Love seing the pics of the stairs! Keep them coming!

Nice work...
But come on... your shop isn't REALLY that clean is it? LOL
A few questions: when you glue something up like that sunburst, is it hard to keep it flat? Or do you end up with quite a bit of sanding after glue-up, and before install? Also, what about making it stay flat once it is installed? Do you face nail it all around the edges, and then cover the nail holes with the trim, and/or do you face nail in the field too? What kind of glue do you use for the glue-up?
When I glued it up I used bisquits to keep the pieces aligned and as you can see by the photos I could only glue about four pieces at a time because of the angle constantly changing. There was not anymore sanding to do than a normal glueup such as a table top. all the sanding was done with a 5 inch Makita DA.The glueup stayed pretty flat. I sparingly screwed around the edges when installed and observed for two weeks or more to make sure that buckeling would not accure then I installed the base molding. So far so good.I used Titebond glue and then sealed and applied a coat of varnish on the bottom side also.
