I recently received a bid to have floor jacks replaced on my home. There are upwards of 100 floor jacks supporting the single-story home on concrete piers. Many of the jacks have corroded over the last 20 years. The contractor is expecting to level the floor in one day. I feel like this quick adjustment might cause undo damage to the interior of the house. Another contractor indicated a 2 week period of daily adjustments to prevent such damage. What are your opinions on the best approach, is it neccessary to take two weeks to adjust the jacks slowly or is it the only way to do it right?

dear speer...... 100 ?
why don't they replace some of those jacks with beams and permanent piers?
egads... do you ever intend to sell the place ?
if so.. it must not be a very reassuring sight to see a hundred jacks under the place...
ps.. the guy who wants to adjust them is the right one.. but it's the wrong solution...
b but hey, whadda i no?
*Wow -- 100 jacks? How big is this place? One every six feet in each direction would be 3600 square feet. What's the location and soil conditions?I agree with Mike: The first guy wants to do the wrong thing the wrong way, and the second guy wants to do the wrong thing the right way.-- J.S.
