Look at page 68 of the new spet issue. Have you ever tried to level gravel or dirt with a bobcat? This guy must be GOOD. Ive tried. I can’t do it. It bounces all over the place. We tried recently with a 580K which I had rented for another use and even it was difficult. A bulldozer with a longer wheel base is steadier.

Looked to me like that stone had been spread by the truck dumping on the move. Then the bobcat just scooted it around a little. Photos show four passes. I'm betting it was more like ten or so with the rest edited out.
But then I believe in miracles too, having worked a few myself.
;)
I had a guy in with a bobcat last year that left me something close to a pool table. The ground was out of level by less than an inch over 35 feet.
It poured later that week and I never saw a puddle. He was good!
A skidsteer isn't the machine I'm most competent on by any means, but these newer ones with hydrostatic drive, longer, wider wheel bases and, of course the biggest Bobcat with the rubber tracks...smooth as silk. You might surprise yourself.
With the attachment selection now available for skidsteers, they're truly a great all-round jobsite machine.
My New Holland skid steer is equipped with steel track, it really makes a big difference in it's leveling ability not to mention it will dig in and go places a dozer won't. In the magazine it looks like he is leveling dumped gravel, this isn't half bad to do with my machine, I have prepped several driveways with gravel and while it's not a dozer job it's pretty good. I suspect the operater in the photo is not a newbee at this. It took me a long time to get any performace from my machine even with the steel tracks.
Nope, that gravel was moved from a pile with the skidsteer, not spread by the truck. And of course many of the passes were edited out. We'd have had an issue with nothing in it but similar photos of a skidsteer carrying stone from the pile, dumping it, returning to the pile, loading the bucket....... Eight pages seemed plenty <G>

I spent a good portion of my apprenticeship on one and I can say that it isn't the easiest to level with but after the amount of time I spent on one you can do it. We did a 160' x 100' footprint of a building and I was a level across the whole thing with about a dozen shots from a lazer level which made the guys happy because they didn't have to rake.
