Hey does anyone have some new info on the contactor liability insurance requirements. I am in Mt. and the doors are closing quickly to those needing such coverage. The weay it has worked in the past we simply filed for workers comp exemption, payed a liscensing fee for independent contractor status and were able to work. The lawsuits and insurance claims for the BIG markets, are rapidly chutting us out, and now must have large coverages as does any one coming on the job site. We all knew the day was coming for this little loophole to close, but now that it has I am unsure as to how to proceed. It will drive up labor costs and what do I do for the little subs who may only be doing small amounts of work, such as day laborors needed only for a few days here and there…..Any wisedom?
