i am in my workboots at least 12 hours a day 6 days a week. currently i am wearing black ecco about 6″ high 100% waterproof, very light, feels like your most comfortable shoes you never want to get rid off. i had the soles repaired twice. guess what, they don’t make those boots anymore. they cost me 200 bucks back then. i believe a shoes has to feel comfortable as soon as you try them on. don’t need a steel toe. comfort, lightweight and waterproof. any ideas? btw i am not a sneaker person.

have had good luck with Wolverines. To me they seem light and are very comfortable, even moreso after I replace the factory insole with Superfeet.
I have some I got at Cabela's , New Balance 977 country walkers.
Kind of a cross between a hiking and walking shoe, brown leather, gore-tex waterproof and lightweight. Cost about $130. I originally bought them for everyday use and started wearing them to work. They are comfortable and the soles are pretty tough, not wearing too much.
