Any sort of propane fireplace will produce SOME heat.
Spark Modern Fires was specified on my project. They sell a linear burner kit but you need to build the cabinet and plumb the gas line. Depending on where you are, a fan powered flue vent may be required.
Where are you installing your fireplace?

Coastal Georgia. If you put in a powered flue .......if fan is on , no heat,.....if off, heat. If not, is there anyway to configure a fireplace to achieve a heat/non heat goal.
