You mentioned something about this in the poplar for window frames thread, and instead of cluttering that up, here’s how it works.
If you are using Firefox, you can download an extension here

After that, just right-click on any page and one of your options will be “Create TinyURL for this Page”. It automatically copies it to your clipboard, and control-v will drop it wherever you want it to be placed.
If not, you can pull up this site each time you want to shorten a link

There is a mention at the bottom of that page on how to get it to work with IE, but I don’t know how well that actually functions.

You type something like THIS in your message and highlight it.
You copy the lengthy url, click on that and paste your lengthy url.

But you ahve to click the box that says "Check here if HTML tags are in the message"
