Hi all, I purchased a Panasonic drill/driver about 18 months ago and two of the three lithium-ion batteries have died. Panasonic says they canÕt be repaired. Repair person told me that there is a small electronic circuit board in the battery and when it blows the battery is useless. I confirmed this with another repair center. Are lithium-ion batteries buggy this way? Perhaps Panasonic batteries are the issue. Interested in comments. Thanks Jay

I don't know but I am interested.
I've had two Makitas for 2-3 years with no problems, so maybe it's a Panasonic issue.
It's true. I believe they are dangerous batteries and have caused many fires. They do have their advantages though. Here's an article about repairing them when the cells are bad. Personally I would not touch one.
