Hello,
I am living here in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and thinking about buying an apartment.I looked at one yesterday and it was great except a common problem here: a damp moldy smelling basement.Add to that the basement space is the bedroom. It is a little damp feeling and I am wondering the best solution to this problem. As you know our foundations are resting on long wooden poles driven into the ground and I am also about 100 yards from the Amstel river. They impregnate walls here with a chemical. Is this effective? Maybe a heavy duty dehumidifier? I await your always great answers.I am enclosing the address for a web page with a drawing of the impregnation process.Sorry about the langauge difference. http://www.prevent-vochtwering.nl/preven~1.htm then click on “bestruijding öptrekkende vocht” Thanks, Dan
