*Inside.
*What a house - looks like the old lodge at Yellowstone! Beautiful work.
*Nice work!
*Very Nice, Robert-Warm and cozy-I like the curved log rail on the interior balcony. It must be a pain running all the electrical in a log home. How long did this job take?Bob
*Very impressive. Your wife doesn't let you sit on the furniture, either, huh?
*Very, very nice Robert. Curious as to the inerior finish on the posts.
*Very nice Robert. It is a dream of myself and my better half to eventually have a log home like that, heck I'd like one half the size !!!Very nice work. I second the questions above, about the electrical and time to build. Was that home shipped in kit form and assembled or was it built 100% on site?SJP.S. Got any more pictures?
*now that ain't lincoln logs !
*Robert, very nice, 4 of my best staircases were built in log homes. Sometimes a bit difficult to deal with the shrinkage problem but they leave a lot of room for freedom of expression.
*Robert,I was pretty impressed with the outside and blown away when I went inside. Where do you build these? Is that a lake behind the house? What finish is used inside and how many coats?A log builder told me once that you " measure with a micrometer and cut with a chain saw".
*WoW! What A Confidence Builder! Thank You all for the nice comments! This Home is like many homes we've built in the past twelve years, ( this is number 88 ). Most are in Wisconsin, but we have built as far east as upstate New York and as far west as Colorado, and I am proud to say I am an on site builder ( but a terrible bookkeeper). Behind this home is the Wonderful Wisconsin River. The final finish is unbelievably smooth and was done by Maverick Painting & Staining Who have been my painting & staining contractor since I started, the product ( I think ) is woodsong, and the finish is two coats of Magna-Max.
*You noticed the rails. We hand made those rails ( me and my excellent crew ) by taking 5x10 timbers , arching them, then turning them back to round with draw knives but leaving the middles and ends square and carving in green granite diamonds in the middle of each rail. We achieved a furniture grade end result. Thanks for noticing. The job took myself and crew of five ( all well paid journeyman ) 1 year, but what you don't see is the three stall garage with caretakers quarters above and the 1800 sq. ft. guest house ( craftsman style ).
*This home is framed with 2x6 exterior walls, insulated and full half log ( 6" thick x 10" high ) is fastened to the frame inside and out, so wiring, HVAC, and plumbing are similar to that of a conventional home. We handcrafted the home on site! I'll post more pics.
*Excellent. I'd be walleye fishing during lunch...
*Mad Dog:I'm with you. Imagine bouncing a jig for a few hours after work and never leaving the job site. Would make me go out and get a belly tube.Rich
*huh?
