Putting up Log Siding with false corners. Any suggestions for treating White Pine to last. Heard a product from Timber Tech is out there but can’t find it on-line.
Any suggestions with the log siding would be appreciated. Appears to be pretty staright forward as far as installation is concerned.
Thanks

Mal,
Preservative-wise, I think the most white pine manufacturers recommend either Woodguard or Sikkens brands.

Yes, and no, depending on your specifics. Machined or hand peeled? Dried or green? Chinking or overlap? House protection, i.e. house wrap, air gap, etc.? New construction or retrofit? 1/4 log, 1/3 log, 1/2 log, or ? What size is the siding (diameter of log)? What size are your corner logs? Corner logs pre cut or round? What equipment do you have handy? What's your transition from log to corner? How are your windows and doors being trimmed on the exterior? Is the order being custom cut and shipped from elsewere or can you inspect it before delivery (scrap rates VARY)? Fake log trusses on gables?
We put up a bunch of the stuff and there are some biggies to watch out for.
If it's the super thin "pot bellied shiplap" available at grocery stores and HD then I can't help since it's so far removed from what we've done.
Not sure where you are at, however I wonder if you might be looking for this company "http://www.timberprocoatings.com/home.htm". They are out of Vancouver, B.C. I know there largest market is in the USA. I have been using there exterior deck and also there siding stains for about 5yrs. Awesome!! I am in an area in W Cda with temp range from -5F up to +105F & 30 inches rain/yr on a large lake, facing SW and stains are performing phenomally! Highly recomend.
As for log finishes, two years ago we sprayed the two-layer Sikkens $100/gal stuff on a ten year old log house and it was amazing how well it filled the small cracks and whatnot. In fact I just checked and yep, I still have a little of the overspray on the plastic lenses of my prescription glasses. I can't find a way to get it off without scratching the lenses so there it stays. If it wears and sticks like that to plastic, it's awful tough.
Mitre outside corners and cope inside corners.
