If that is the 8", they don't make them anymore as you know. E-bay is the only source I can find for them, and you don't see them as much there as you used to.
I have one that is almost 20 years old and still going strong. I keep it clean and replaced the brushes and bearings just once about 4 years ago. About 9 years ago I bought the Rousseau table and out feed set up for it and it has been an unbeatable combo. Trouble is this Rousseau table doesn't really fit any other saw now. They make them for the bigger boys but to get the setup I now have in a new Bosch 10" or whatever, you're looking at $800, and it wouldn't slip under the bottom shelf of my van. When this one goes I probably will get a new 10" with the Rousseau, but till then I keep an eye out for a used 2708. I should probably get one now while it's not too late.
Anyhow.....E-bay is the only place I see them.

You got 12 hours left. good luck.
no miter gauge and I was already out bid a day or so ago!
might still try ... there have been a coupla cleaner ones lately ... figured instead of fighting the crowds I'd see if anyone here had one in good shape just collecting dust high up on a shelf ...

Bunch a wize guys at the other end of the state...
My son goes to Pitt and he's pickin' it up...
I was trying to snipe a guy at 11 seconds and got sniped back at 3!
lost that round ...
Pitt is a fine school ... and don't mean nothing bad if/when they ask U to leave!
Let me know when he's around and if he ever needs some extra cash ... I usually work solo ... but I usually know of someone looking for an extra hand.

just out of curiousity why are you so sold on the 2708?
We do have one sitting at the shop but it's pretty well beat to hell
it'll be my lite weight saw.
worked with a guy a coupla years ago that had one ... can't think of another out there with the same power at such a light weight with a nice solid fence.
I want something for those days when I don't wanna drag out the Dewalt on the trojan stand. Flooring and halfday trim jobs come to mind.
Plus ... they pretty much last forever.

you really can't kill them...
if you could, the one we have would have died a LONG time ago.
Have you looked at the Hitachi? I know nothing about it, but it looked pretty light weight in the picture I saw.
It really is the perfect lightweight saw to have for trimwork etc. They are a workhorse and you're right, you can't kill them. They're still very popular and bring in a high buck off of E-bay. I don't know why they discontinued it.
They probably quit making it after too many people complained that the hoiwling shriek coming from the gears and bearings made their ears bleed. It's hard to get blood off new work.

Huh...what? I can't hear what yer sayin'...
yeah .. there is that ...
keeps the home owners and their kids away though.

Actually he goes to the Johnstown campus. He was going to transfer his Jr year (coming up), but now he's in a frat..I Tappa Keg, I Felta Thi, or some such nonsense, and now he wants to stay there, in the middle of nowhere, till the end. Ah well, he still goes to the football and basketball games at least.
Thanks for the offer. He's 6'2", 250, benches well over 300, can work like a horse, and is fairly immune to pain. He's a GC's dream.
I can't rassle him anymore, he throws me around like a wet noodle, so I gotta pull out the old holds & tricks till he feels the pain.
