Hello, I’ve been looking for a good job in north Tucson, AZ, doing any type of contstruction work (framing, roofing, electrical, etc.). I would like to find a good boss. I’m a good worker for only a nineteen year old. (I graduated from Homeschool) I love constuction work and would be willing to learn anything to do with it. Does anyone know of a good contracter to work for here in North Tucson, AZ?
Thanks so much!
Josiah

JLC is another place you could post. http://forums.jlconline.com/forums/index.php
Good luck.
Sorry I can't help you with a specific contractor in your area but here's some food for thought. You've got the right attitude and if you have a good work ethic, you'll find a job that will lead you in the right direction. Be ready to work hard. When you learn something, be aware there's more than one way to do something so you'll never 'have seen it all'. There's always something new to learn.
The old adage 'good help is hard to find' must have been coined by a construction manager. Be there, at the job, on time, every day, sober and ready to sweat! Keep your eyes and ears open, your mouth shut, and the information will be there for you to pick up along the way. Read these forums, ask questions when it's a good time for the one you're asking, and soak it all in.
These days, specializing seems to be the trend. You'll figure that out when you've been in the field awhile. Do what you love and it will serve you well. There's a gratification in working with your hands that nothing else can compare to. At the end of the day, you can see tangible results of your work.
Try to stick with quality contractors since it's harder to unlearn bad habits/techniques than to learn the opposite. They will be the ones who have good equipment, are licensed, pull taxes from your pay, and handle everything above board. They'll also be working on nicer projects exposing you to more information in technique and quality.
Best of luck to you...

Good luck, Son. Are you already in AZ? Keep beating the bushes, drive by sites and try to meet the lead guys on crews where things are well done. Check in at the lumberyards the contractors use.

Hi Piffin,Yes, I've been in AZ for 4 months now. We were living in Sierra Vista, and I was working for a flooring store as a handyman there. Good idea about looking at the lumberyards. I'll give it a try. Were are you? Are you a contractor?-Josiah
