I not the greatest at archiving past editions of Fine Homebuilding and I’m trying to find two tools that I’ve seen featured in publications and hoping someone can help.
The first was a device that you plug your tool of choice and a shop vac into, and whenever you hit the trigger of the tool the shopvac turns on simultaneously.
The other edition was a tool review, (recent), for cement fiber siding saws. Need one soon and would like to re-read the feedback.
Thanks All

I bought my tool/vac receptacle from Sears. About $35, iirc. Or drop $500 on a Festool vac, they have the feature built in.

The Fein vac has the same feature for "only" $400
and I got my PC for less than $300

I have the Mak 5057 KB http://www.amazon.com/s/183-9985109-0998147?ie=UTF8&tag=mozilla-20&index=blended&link_code=qs&field-keywords=makita%205057%20kb&sourceid=Mozilla-search and have put a diamond blade on it to dustlessly cut mortar bed floors for take out. When hooked to a vac it has very good dust control in that application. I think i would pick up the ridgid and evaluate it far at least the trial period..... my guess is that you would keep it

Maybe I'm dreamin but I swear I saw a tool review recently featuring 5 or 6 fiber cement saws and I thought it was in FHB. I believe it featured the Rigid, Hitachi, Makita and more. Been doing a little research on the Rigid as it definitely seems to have the most exposure. Not all good I'm afraid. The reviews aren't horrible but bad enough to drive me away.
If I was dreamin, I think that would make me kind of strange. You know,..... dreamin about saws.

I too have used the i-socket 110M and it worked well - until it failed. My only concern is that when it fails, it can (and did) fail such that it reduced the voltage to my vac. Fortunately I noticed it before it went too long. My vac motor was not damaged, but could well have been due to low voltage. There was no mention of a time limit on its use (like x min per hour) but I think that it heated up internally due to "too much" use in a short period of time. I asked DGC about this but never received a reply.I would look elsewhere.
Hey thanks. I will keep an eye on mine.Webby
