Boss is in the market for a dump truck to replace the rust heap we currently are nursing along.
Any good web sites to search on?
What would be optimal is a 1-ton flatbed dumper with stake racks and/ a ladder rack.
We will use it mostly to haul const. debris to the landfill, and to bring staging and ladders etc. to and from jobsites.
I don’t really know what the budget is, but I heard thru the grape vine that they found a truck for 16K and the office manager said we couldn’t spare the capital.
so probably 10K and under.
Where should I look?
Thanx in advance

I looked at the dump truck idea and decided on a dump trailer. 10 ton capacity brand new for $4200. Cheap to insure, hauls with the trucks we already have, and best of all no drive train to maintain for a piece of equipment that sits a lot. Traderonline is a good place to start your search. DanT
I was for a dump trailer but we had a moron driving the dumptruck for a while who could NOT back up without running into some thing.
So a trailer was definitely out of the question.
Plus we have no trucks that would haul a laoded dump trailer.
To get to our land fill form where we usally wok you have to go through the heart of down town and the take the interstate for 5 miles.
Pretty risky with any thing that isn't quite legal(from a safety point of view)
thanks for the link.Mr T

Probably not going to help you much up in NY, but round these here parts there a lot of old grain trucks.
A lot of people use them for dumpers and they can be had pretty cheap, think the boss paid around 5 for ours has another grand or so in maintance and repairs.Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professionals built the Titanic.
You guys still go to the landfill? Upstate new yawk. Must be rural?
Down here in D.C. area, forget it. Land fills are just what ther're called. FILLED!
El diablo used to have two roving dump trucks, Internationals, got rid of one. Cheapest way to dispose of debris is to get a container. The dumpster people own their own land down in one of the lower maryland counties, and take the refuse down their. We get a 30 yard container at the shop, constantly. The trash removal goes like this.....
"Dump truck" goes to small job, two amigos load truck, so on and so forth, when full, "dump truck" returns to shop, two amigos climb back in and toss debris into dumpster. Larger jobs get their own container.

Have you attended any auctions? I've bought a few pieces at some pretty good prices.
Here's a big one coming up in MD but there should be some closer to you.

Don't have any leads for ya, just wanted to mention something .
If you get one of the newer electric hoists, they sure are slick. Much nicer than a PTO hoist.
You can kick the hoist in while you're backing up instead of stopping and engaging the PTO. It also makes it easier to move the bed from one truck to another if you need to.
Just something to look for..........
