looking for an experienced framing crew
Hello there. I am a carpenter in the New York, Long Island area. I will be dormering my home in the late spring/early summer. I am currently having blueprints drawn up for this project. I was wondering if anyone knows of a framing contractor in this area that would come in and frame, sheathe, fascia, and housewrap this kind of project. The thing is: this is all I want done- a shell. I will finish every other part of it. I’ll roof it, side it , put the windows in, I’ll even frame the interior walls my self to save money. A good crew could do this job in less than a week. I’ll have all demo done so when the framers arrived the lumber would be there, and they’d have a brand new plywood deck to build on. Some companies around here wanted ridiculous numbers to do this. I would do it myself but I dont have a full crew anymore and I’m out of touch with a lot my old guys. I was hoping to get at least a 5 man crew in there. If I paid each man $400 per day this job would end up costing me $10,000. This would be ok for me. I want professional framers! not weekend warriors! They would need to be licensed and insured and have comp for all their guys. Is this a reasonable rate these days? Someone let me know please!!!!

I have a good friend who I've worked with on other jobs here on LI. One for the people that own the IMAC Center in Huntington(Inter Media Arts) if you want a referal of our work.
I will more than likely be going in as partners full time with him after I finish my circa:1680 house here in Cold Spring Harbor. Until then I'm just doing jobs with him sparatically. For framing its a crew of about a dozen guys...after the summer he and I will split jobs with him on framing only and me all the work beyond that. Give me a shout and we'll talk. We're reasonable and do great work you're more than welcome to see.

I am located in Levittown, Nassau County. My prints are being drawn up as we speak. I should have a general print in about 4 weeks and construction prints and permits in hopefully late April or May.
