I’m looking for a Bosch door holder, model # 93005. It is a type of vise which sits on the floor and holds a door on it’s long edge for planing and for mortising for the hinges. It was discontinued several years ago. I think Stanley also made a similar devise many years ago. Does anyone know where I may find a used one in working order ?

Mike, you can make a door buck pretty easily with some scrap wood. If you make the opening wide enough you can fit a clamp in there. What advantages does the store bought one have?
Mike
*I take several wood clamps, some clamping blocks (thin strips of wood), and clamp them on the side of the door that is going to rest on the ground. I set each clamp the opposite of the one beside it so that the tail is sticking out away from the door. It makes a very sturdy holder.James DuHamel
*Made up a sweet set from some 2x some plywood, and some carpet scraps. I gotta scan a pic of it in. took me maybe twenty minuts to cut and build it. they'll last a while too.
*Takes about 10 seconds to nail a 2 or 3 foot 1x6 to either the top or bottom of the door and down against the floor. Works good.
*Mike, Ive got one which I used to build about 35 doors. As it comes from Bosch it's not that great. First you've got to mount it to a piece of wood because the "arms" aren't big enough to keep it from falling over. But, the place you have to drill for the mounting screw(s) is such that the head of the screw interferes with the spring action. If I had it to do over again, I'd save the $50 and build a wooden one with a sliding drop-in wooden wedge to pin the door in place while you're working on it.
*Rob, it's good to finally hear from someone who hasused the Bosch holder, as I have only seen a picture of it. I've always made my own holders in the past, which have worked alright, but I really liked Bosch'sfoot pedal operated clamp. Based on your advice, theadvice of everyone else who responded, and my inability to find one, I have decided to make my own version of the holder. Hopefully I can overcome Bosch's shortcomings. My thanks to everyone.
*I had a bosch door holder once. I bore a strong resemblance to an 8" circular saw. Kept the door from blowing shut really well. Ron
